About the role
The primary responsibility is to ensure patients are correctly scheduled for procedures and registered appropriately. Duties also include accurate documentation of insurance and authorizations, providing high-quality customer service, and maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and prepare for exams based on physician offices or patient requests
- Register patients in the hospital’s registration system following guidelines
- Verify insurance information and perform a revenue cycle review
- Refer patients to Financial Care Consultants as needed
- Maintain and update records according to hospital and regulatory standards
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
- Collaborate with physician office staff to improve working relationships and train new staff
- Assist in maintaining department equipment and reporting malfunctions
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Two (2) years of medical secretarial/medical clerical experience preferred.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills, strong computer skills (specially scheduling systems and Microsoft Office), effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to maintain computer competencies as required for the position.
