Central Utility Operator (Night Shift 2)
About the role
onsemi is seeking a reliable and motivated Central Utility Plant (CUP) Operator to support our site in Hopewell Junction, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility’s utility systems. This role is ideal for candidates looking to grow their career in facilities operations while working a compressed work week on the night shift.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, operate, and adjust plant equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and HVAC systems
- Perform routine inspections and log readings of all utility systems
- Respond to alarms and abnormal system conditions
- Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment
- Maintain accurate operational logs and reports
- Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies
- Communicate effectively with teammates during shift turnover
- Support emergency response as needed
- Participate in the site Emergency Response Brigade and support emergency preparedness activities, including maintaining required training and certifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant operations
- Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts on a rotating schedule
Schedule
- Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday
- Extra 15% night shift differential
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $21.20 to $36.92 per hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.
