Utility Operator 2, Night Shift (2/2/3 6pm-6am)

About the role

The Utility Operator 2 position is a night shift role supporting a 2/2/3 schedule from 6pm-6am. This position operates, maintains, and repairs black and clean utility systems, monitors equipment, and responds to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors utility systems, including compressed gases, cooling towers, plant steam, chillers, boilers, HVAC, fire alarm system, and utilities tank farm.
• Maintains equipment performance, conducts routine maintenance, troubleshoots issues, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Monitors equipment performance, conducts routine maintenance, troubleshoots issues, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Responds to equipment failures promptly and assists with analyzing data to identify areas of improvement.
• Responds to emergency conditions, such as power outages, fire alarms, and critical equipment alarms.
• Operates and monitors site building management system (BMS) and Delta V.
• Maintains accurate records and implements corrective actions to address non-compliance issues.
• Participates in cross-department meetings and provides technical expertise.
• Manages the inventory of spare parts and equipment.
• Provides guidance and mentors operators.
• Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 2-4 years of experience in Utility Operations or a related field.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of control systems.
• Effective communication, both written and oral.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies or other continuous improvement techniques.
• Must be able to support 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift, on-call and weekends.

Skills

• Knowledge of data tracking software, such as Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Experience using Microsoft Office.
