Utility Operator - Night Shift

Responsibilities

  • Filling a variety of positions as needed, including Packaging, Sanitation, running RO/UF/Nano/Pasteurizer’s, Evaporator, Dryers, Intake, Loadouts, and any other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership.

Requirements

  • Production & Operations: Communicate with departmental operators to effectively manage silo space and production schedules; escalate issues promptly to the shift lead, supervisor, or manager.
  • Quality Control & Monitoring: Pull liquid samples and use analysis results to adjust operational parameters; check silo temperatures and solids; document results on RO/UF Daily Production Reports; monitor powder moisture levels and adjust dryer settings accordingly; verify dryer, evaporator, CIP, and system settings to ensure products remain within specifications; periodically inspect lecithin spray nozzle patterns; inspect fluid beds, sifters, and HPP systems for chunks, wetness, or other defects; remove obstructions and report deviations immediately.
  • Equipment & Maintenance: Operate all CIP3 and CIP4 systems within the plant; maintain filtration equipment to ensure product meets specification requirements; monitor filtration equipment and silo areas for leaks or equipment deficiencies and report issues immediately; perform routine equipment maintenance and assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.
  • Packaging Support: Verify that required product samples are taken during packaging; ensure packaging operators have necessary supplies (bags, pallets, skid sheets, etc.); assist with packaging during breaks and help troubleshoot packaging issues; train packaging operators to ensure GMP compliance; ensure all pallets and bags are properly labeled, placarded, and removed from the bag room at the completion of each lot.
  • Documentation, Sanitation & GMP Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation for production runs, CIPs, bag weights, run numbers, and logs; ensure proper documentation and cleanliness of silos, lines, and equipment; maintain a clean, organized work area and follow the daily sanitation schedule; adhere to all established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (dairy/wet processing preferred)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to perform mathematical equations involving packaging materials required, weight calculations, percent inclusion, percent protein/fat, blend ratios, drug reconciliation, product flow rate, and conversion of liquids to solids
  • Ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk continually during shift
  • Possess problem-solving skills as related to operation, equipment maintenance, quality and process flow
  • Ability to climb ladders and several flights of stairs frequently during a shift
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Attendance in good standing
  • Ability to be able to learn a variety of positions quickly

Physical Demands

  • Heavy Work - Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Working Environment

  • Production - Exposure to manufacturing environment. Requires frequent moving and climbing. Frequent exertion of light to moderate physical effort. Exposure to noise, odor, dust, and discharge from production process.
