Central Sterile Supervisor

About the role

As the Central Sterile Supervisor at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, you will promote customer service initiatives and oversee all areas of the department related to the processing and sterilization of reusable instruments and supplies. You will ensure adherence to principles and procedures for decontamination, assembling, packaging, sterilization, and storage, as well as sterilizer testing and recording of results. This role involves clinical and resource management for a unit servicing between 4 and 10 procedural rooms, with responsibility for employee, physician, and patient satisfaction, standards of practice, and quality of care.

Responsibilities

• Perform instrument decontamination according to manufacturer’s guidelines while separating and protecting instrumentation per departmental guidelines.
• Operate all washers, ultrasounds, sterilizers, and scanners within the department, adhering to recommended guidelines.
• Conduct parameter testing, including chemical and biological tests as directed.
• Assemble all instrumentation according to count sheets, ensuring accuracy and cleanliness.
• Package instruments following manufacturer’s or departmental guidelines, understanding which takes precedence in each case.
• Promote and uphold customer service standards, supporting the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values.
• Coordinate daily work practices and workflow, attending and presenting at staff meetings.
• Recommend and implement process changes as needed.
• Maintain working knowledge of Sterile Processing Microsystems for tray accountability.
• Manage departmental supplies and inventory.

Requirements

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) required.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required.
• 2-3 years of supervisor or leadership experience highly preferred.
