About the role

The Department of Biological Science at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer Pool. The pool will be used to fill temporary part-time positions teaching in the following subject areas: General Biology (lecture or lab), Introductory Cell and Molecular Biology (lecture or lab), Intermediate Cell and Molecular Biology (lecture or lab), Genetics, Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology, Advances in Biotechnology Lab (lab and discussion), Microbiology (lecture or lab), Molecular Virology, Cellular Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Plant Molecular Biology (lecture and lab).

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction.
  • Prepare course materials and administer assignments to students.
  • Administer examinations, grade student work, and determine course grades.
  • Hold scheduled office hours.
  • Attend all weekly lab preparatory meetings.
  • Participate in all class field trips, if applicable.
  • Complete all necessary training.
  • Attend Lecturers Meetings.

Requirements

  • A Master's or PhD degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology or related field.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

Qualifications

  • Strong evidence of content knowledge in the subject areas listed above.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Professional presentation and demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations.
  • Fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.

Compensation

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.

Appointment Date and Academic Calendar

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in mid-August and ends beginning January; the Spring term begins mid-January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.

The Department of Biological Science offers an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Biological Science and a thesis-based Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biology.
