Responsibilities
- Affords assistance in planning, scheduling, and conducting programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
- Affords assistance, invitation, and encouragement to residents to participate in activities.
- Affords assessment, planning, and management of facilitation of a comprehensive activities program utilizing team members and volunteers.
- Affords attendance at all community planned functions and coordination of events from beginning to end including setup, running, and breakdown for the event.
- Affords planning and coordination of appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
- Affords coordination of holiday decorations for the community.
- Affords coordination with other departments to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for activities and special events.
- Affords planning, coordination, and facilitation of appropriate mixed group (assisted living and Memory Care) activities.
- Affords facilitation of regularly scheduled and specialized activities (in the Memory Care program).
- Affords maintenance of activity areas in an orderly manner.
- Affords maintenance of an inventory of activity and programming supplies, games, programs, and craft services.
- Affords responsibility for daily care of any animals and/or plants within the activities program and services.
- Affords preparation and organization of a calendar of events.
- Affords submission of the calendar to the Executive Director for final approval.
- Affords distribution of the calendar.
- Affords coordination of holiday decorations for the community.
- Affords distribution of the community newsletter.
- Affords assistance in introducing the program to new residents.
- Affords assistance in leadership of wellness program.
- Affords organization and supervision of a volunteer staff.
- Affords addressing resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
- Affords maintenance of a database and preparation of reports on resident assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- An associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.
- One to three years of experience is preferred in assisted living, long-term care, or experience/exposure to the senior population.
