Responsibilities
- Erosion Control and Sedimentation Compliance Inspection: Conduct on-site inspections of erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with approved plans, contract documents, and permit requirements.
- Verify Proper Installation, Phasing, and Maintenance of Best Management Practices (BMPs): Ensure BMPs such as silt fence, sediment basins, inlet protection, and check dams are installed and maintained correctly.
- Document Deficiencies, Non-Compliance Issues, and Potential Environmental Impacts: Record and report any issues found during inspections and monitor corrective actions.
- Prepare and Submit Inspection Reports: Create and submit weekly and post-rain event NPDES reports, along with supporting photos and detailed narratives.
- Maintain Comprehensive Records: Keep detailed records of site conditions, inspections, and corrective actions to support regulatory compliance and project documentation.
- Monitor Installation and Maintenance Activities: Ensure all erosion control installations and maintenance meet approved plans, specifications, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders: Communicate with NCDOT representatives, contractors, and environmental agencies to address and resolve compliance and construction issues.
- Communicate with Project Stakeholders: Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years of construction-related experience OR associate’s degree in engineering technology, geomatics, or related field AND two (2) years of construction-related experience
- NCDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Level II
- Prior NCDOT Construction Inspection Experience with active materials testing certification
- A strong sense of responsibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to perform field measurements and complete mathematical calculations to determine areas and volumes, and convert between units
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Engineering or a related field
- Previous experience working on or with NCDOT projects
- Familiarity with NCDOT Standards and Specifications

- NCDOT Concrete Field Technician
- ACI Concrete Field Level I
- NCDOT Introduction to Asphalt
- NCDOT QMS Roadway
- NCDOT ABC and Borrow Pit Sampling
- NCDOT Conventional Density
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction
