Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL license.
- Minimum two (2) years of practical trucking‑related experience that demonstrates instructional competency.
- A safe CDL‑A driving record as determined by the SAGE Safety Department.
- Knowledge/Skill: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of safe truck driving and all laws and regulations covering tractor‑trailer interstate operations; ability to demonstrate the SAGE curriculum subject matter for students.
- Attitude: Must show a performance‑focused attitude; professionalism, respect, motivation, maturity, and safety are assessed.

Additional Competencies
All truck‑driving instructors must possess knowledge, skill, and performance abilities that far exceed the curriculum objectives. Instructors communicate instructions to students, assess student performance, and guide students on maneuvers on a skills driving range and on the road during 4‑ to 12‑hour shifts.
Regulatory Compliance
Truck driver trainers/instructors must meet the minimum qualifications for interstate tractor‑trailer drivers in accordance with all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including the physical and driver‑qualification standards of Part 391, and must pass a DOT drug/alcohol screen.
