Schedule
- Sunday – Friday, dependent on route (average 4-5 days per week)
- Start times range from midnight to 5:00 am (dependent on route)
- 12-16 hour days or until the route is completed (routes will not exceed DOT hours)
- Possibility of overnight routes for vacation coverage or business needs
About the Role
As a Driver for Dawn Foods, you will support our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from the distribution center by driving a tractor-trailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloading product according to customer invoices and Dawn team standards. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.
Requirements
- Class “A” CDL license in good standing
- Minimum of 6 months Class A commercial driving experience
- Ability to work in the United States
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout work shift
- Ability to operate MHE equipment
- Experience delivering into food service accounts is preferred
- Lift-gate, reefer, electric pallet jack, and forklift experience helpful
- Computer skills or experience with electronic logs helpful
Responsibilities
- Obey all federal, state, and local rules and regulations of the road, including DOT operating, recording, and safe food handling procedures
- Conduct daily face-to-face interaction with customers, representing Dawn Foods in a friendly, competent, and professional manner
- In a DSD (direct store delivery) setting, break down product and complete shelf stacking at each stop
- Drive and maintain multi-temp trailers
- Offload with electric pallet jacks/two wheelers
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Collect invoice receipts generated from deliveries
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds frequently
- Specific vision abilities required: distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to withstand cool and/or cold temperatures
- Normal setting is outdoors and/or driving a video/GPS-monitored vehicle
- Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy
