About the role
The Peer Specialist will provide support to individuals overcoming severe and persistent behavioral health disorders through mutual peer support, advocacy, and education.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate access to resources for individuals served
- Provide peer recovery support, including sharing recovery stories
- Afford hope and role model recovery
- Assist with accessing treatment and supports for recovery
- Develop and maintain knowledge of community resources
- Support basic needs of individuals as needed
Requirements
- Lived experience as someone served by the mental health/behavioral health service system
- Willingness to share knowledge and experience of recovery
- High School Diploma
- One year of sustained recovery
- Computer proficiency
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged
Qualifications
- Peer specialist certification through Mass DMH after hire
