Catholic First Grade Teacher
About the role
We are seeking a part-time First Grade Teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 14 hours per week during the 2026-27 academic year at our center near Portland, Oregon, in Camas, Washington. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required; we will teach you everything you need to know.
Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. To learn more about our program, visit www.rcahybrid.org.
Ideal Candidate
The right applicant may have experience in any of the following areas (though not required):
- Homeschooling or working with homeschool children
- Ministry in a Catholic parish
- Teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes
- Teaching your own children
- Teaching in a classical or private school
The ideal applicant will also possess:
- Strong communication skills
- Good organization and timeliness
- A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship
- A commitment to living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to their state in life
Requirements
- Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church
- Must have a deep love for children and the Catholic faith
- Must be available to attend staff training on August 11, 12, and 13, 2026
- Must pass a background check and complete RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching
Schedule
Center hours during the academic year are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM. No additional vacation days are provided, though accommodations are made for sick days as needed. Childcare/nursery is available for children up to two years old.

Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided. Tutors and assistants are trained to provide instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards.
