Cath Lab Tech
What You Will Do
- Affords assistance to the physician during cardiac cath lab patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains high standards of imaging and image acquisition, DSA, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Fulfills radiation safety protocols for both patients and staff.
- Utilizes aseptic techniques and assists in scrubbing during procedures.
- Transports patients between the cath lab and other necessary locations.
- Applies manual pressure to puncture sites to ensure hemostasis post-procedure.
- Operates and calibrates physiologic monitoring/data devices in the cath lab.
- Prepares documentation forms for procedural data.
- Collects and maintains physiological data post-procedure.
- Completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology and ARRT registry, with a valid Iowa Radiology technologist permit.
- Graduate of Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program.
- Advanced medical training degree or certification (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in paramedic, or Allied Health Profession).
- Valid Illinois permit to practice, degree or certification if working in Illinois.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
Qualifications
Basic Life Support required within 3 months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Basic EKG monitoring class preferred. ACLS Preferred. Required within 6 months of hire. Mandatory Reporter required within 3 months of hire.
