About the role

Full-time Invasive Cardiology RN in the Cath Lab serving adult cardiology, electrophysiology, and vascular patients. Schedule: 4/10-hour days with call requirements of one day a week and one weekend every six weeks.

  • Patient ratios: Cath/RP team comprised of RNs and Rad Techs working in 3-4 person teams to manage procedural patient care, collaborating with proceduralists and anesthesia providers.
  • 5 total invasive cardiology labs, including 2 electrophysiology labs.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans, and modify plans to meet outcomes.
  • Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate nursing practice quality and effectiveness, support evidence-based practice changes, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Caring Practices: Create a safe, therapeutic environment; develop therapeutic relationships; manage emotional and physical pain; recognize and incorporate patient and family differences into care plans.
  • Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserve patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights; represent patient concerns; create individualized plans reflecting patient values; help resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
  • Facilitation of Learning: Facilitate learning for patients, families, staff, and community; integrate education throughout care; assess and document learning needs and outcomes.
  • Partnership: Collaborate with colleagues and community to create and implement care plans; delegate tasks appropriately and ensure follow-up.
  • Systems Thinking: Use problem-solving strategies and resources; consider safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering care.
  • Professionalism: Improve nursing practice and work environment; participate in governance and decision-making; pursue professional growth; contribute to the development of peers; demonstrate commitment to community service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of high-level Cardiovascular ICU/CVICU and/or Cath Lab RN experience. ER candidates with minimum 2 years of Level I Trauma experience will be considered.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or 2 years of relevant work experience above minimum qualifications.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards, medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
  • Understanding of medications, dosages, effects, and possible adverse reactions.
  • Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to observe and communicate changes in patient conditions.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and email.
