About the Role
Full-time position in the Invasive Cardiology Cath Lab serving adult cardiology, electrophysiology, and vascular patients. Shift: 4/10-hour days with call requirements of one day a week and one weekend every six weeks.
- Patient ratios: Cath/RP team comprised of RNs and Rad Techs working in 3-4 person teams to manage procedural patient care, collaborating with proceduralists and anesthesia providers.
- 5 total invasive cardiology labs, including 2 electrophysiology labs.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate assessments, identify and prioritize patient and family needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
- Clinical Inquiry: Evaluate nursing practice quality, support evidence-based practice changes, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Caring Practices: Create a safe, therapeutic environment; develop therapeutic relationships; manage pain; and incorporate patient and family differences into care plans.
- Advocacy and Moral Agency: Preserve patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights; represent patient concerns; and resolve ethical and clinical issues.
- Facilitation of Learning: Educate patients, families, staff, and the community; integrate health promotion and disease prevention; and document learning outcomes.
- Partnership: Collaborate with colleagues and community to implement care plans; delegate tasks appropriately and ensure follow-up.
- Systems Thinking: Use problem-solving strategies considering safety, effectiveness, and efficiency; recognize resource limitations.
- Professionalism: Improve nursing practice, engage in mutual governance, pursue professional growth, and contribute to the development of peers.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of high-level Cardiovascular ICU/CVICU and/or Cath Lab RN experience. ER candidates with 2 years of Level I Trauma experience will be considered.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 30 days of hire.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent work experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Understanding of medical terminology, health promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
- Knowledge of medications, dosages, effects, and adverse reactions.
- Familiarity with medical ethics and patient privacy rights.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to observe and communicate changes in patient conditions.
- Proficiency in providing age-specific, patient-centered care.
- General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and scheduling systems.
