As a Category Manager for Medical Surgical, you will provide expertise to create efficiencies, realize financial savings, leverage system technology, and add value for our clinicians and associates.
The ideal candidate has a background in clinical materials and services contracting, superior analytic and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, transformation-oriented environment. This role focuses on contract spend areas such as medical-surgical products, respiratory, critical care, nursing and procedural supplies, pediatrics, and clinical capital purchasing acquisitions. You will serve as the primary point of contact for medical-surgical distribution and distribution contracting at the GPO and local level, collaborating across Supply Chain and Clinical departments.
Responsibilities include the end-to-end source-to-contract process for clinical categories, developing sourcing strategies with stakeholders to achieve cost, quality, and outcomes, and leading supplier negotiations, contract development, vendor management, and savings initiatives.

- Develop sourcing strategies in collaboration with stakeholders to achieve cost, quality, and outcomes.
- Identify initiatives, conduct market/spend analysis, benchmark comparisons, and create competitive procurement documents (RFP/RFI).
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract development, and vendor management.
- Identify and realize savings opportunities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for medical-surgical distribution and distribution contracting at the GPO and local level.
- Collaborate across Supply Chain and Clinical departments to ensure performance and value from contracted partners and vendors.
- Create presentations and discuss complex Supply Chain initiatives with leadership at all levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business Administration (Master’s preferred).
- 4+ years of contract management and/or hospital supply chain management experience in medical-surgical, inpatient, or ambulatory settings.
- Experience with ERP, contract management software, inventory systems, and healthcare spend contract management.
- Knowledge of GPO utilization, accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research, and value analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, ERP, supply chain information systems, contract management software, GHX/EDI, and inventory management software.
