Category Manager - Technology

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Category Manager - Technology to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will own strategic sourcing and procurement for technology spend across software, SaaS, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and IT professional services. The Category Manager will partner closely with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to drive value, improve contract outcomes, and manage supplier relationships in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. Success in this position will require strong commercial judgment, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to influence without formal authority. The role also supports risk mitigation and operational excellence across the full sourcing lifecycle. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Develop overarching procurement strategies for IT spend with category leadership and stakeholders
• Lead negotiations and full-lifecycle sourcing events independently
• Advise senior executives on strategy, supplier selection, and risk mitigation
• Identify and capitalize on cost reduction and value opportunities through data analysis
• Collaborate with various departments to finalize procurement deals
• Oversee the contracting process to ensure favorable business terms
• Support management of ongoing supplier performance and resolve issues

Qualifications

• 5-7 years in sourcing/procurement or operations transformation; top-tier consulting experience preferred
• Demonstrated success in generating value from procurement projects in a non-mandated environment
• Strong familiarity with IT categories: software/SaaS, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and IT professional services
• Proficient in generative AI tools; skilled in critically validating AI-generated outputs
• Solid project management ability; thrives in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision
• Strong business acumen with a focus on contract development and risk mitigation
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing varied audiences

Pay

$110,000 – $130,000 annually
