About the role

Accountable for leading, guiding & directing the functional responsibilities within an assigned area. Enable ministry-level or enterprise-wide functional strategy to address internal or external business & regulatory issues. Provide functional expertise & ensure fulfillment of performance & service standards. Responsible for consistent operating performance & achieving financial goals. Identifies, defines & solves complex problems that impact the management & direction of the business. Collaborates with Services Areas, Regions & Health Ministries to ensure consistency & integration of strategy & operations while maintaining awareness of new industry developments & standards. Provides decision support, operations &/or optimization leadership focus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, guidance & leadership to RHM & Region leaders in developing strategies & achieving performance goals.
  • Enable collaboration across & within service area, RHM & Regions to ensure consistency & integration of strategy & operations.
  • Lead standardization/systemness & optimization of policy, process, methodology, establishing a national community of practice.
  • Oversee Vendor/Contract Labor Management including centralizing strategy & optimizing spend.
  • Collaborate in system-wide strategy development & deployment of functional area priorities & initiatives.
  • Support regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities.
  • Accountable for the selection, evaluation & overall success of the functional leadership teams.
  • Serve as organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies & governance over financials & staffing.
  • Accountable for communication between service area functional area, RHM & Region leaders.
  • Measure & report KPIs/metrics & value delivery.
  • Provide advice, guidance & leadership for the colleague life cycle.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines.
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities for complex initiatives to achieve significant cost reductions & year-over-year cost and productivity improvements in the total cost of goods and services procured while maintaining or improving product quality and vendor service levels.
  • Manage several simultaneous competitive sourcing processes, complex contract negotiations of high value, and limit exposure to high-risk projects.
  • Maintain business relationships with suppliers and Trinity's group purchasing organization (GPO).
  • Negotiate terms supporting business plan objectives and protecting Trinity from business continuity risk.
  • Work with legal to develop contracts memorializing terms and conditions of trade relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct business reviews.
  • Represent Trinity's interest on GPO advisory boards, provide guidance on negotiation strategies, and support contract implementation across the ministry.
  • Drive system compliance by optimizing the use of national group purchasing, custom group purchasing, and Trinity Health system agreements.
  • Conduct competitive sourcing and negotiation processes for initiatives with moderate risk and value, including direct and indirect supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Analyze responses, review product/service/equipment/IT information, perform cost-benefit analyses, develop reports, and present findings.
  • Collect, clean, and validate large datasets from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar platforms.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Conduct category assessments including spend analysis, demand forecasting, supply market intelligence, and risk evaluation to identify value creation opportunities.
  • Lead enterprise spend management activities across assigned categories, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals and budget targets.
  • Prioritize projects for assigned commodities.
  • Lead strategy development, manage Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams for strategic sourcing initiatives to drive system-wide standardization, cost reductions, service and quality excellence, knowledge transfer, and local implementation.
  • Develop, execute, and communicate sourcing strategies in collaboration with senior level management, Value Analysis, Operations, TIS, and key stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships to ensure internal customers and stakeholders are actively engaged.
  • Promote a lean/process excellence culture and participate in joint quality improvement initiatives.
  • Motivate and lead strategic sourcing lean program initiatives to increase productivity and improve end-to-end process efficiencies.
  • Engage suppliers in selection processes and maintain business relationships conducted legally, ethically, and in accordance with Trinity Health Policies/Procedures and the Organizational Integrity Program.
  • Develop a primary liaison for key suppliers within the assigned category and conduct business reviews.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all category supplier engagement questions from Trinity colleagues.
  • Maintain business relationships with GPO leadership and staff, provide input on sourcing strategy, and represent Trinity on advisory boards as assigned.
  • Plan, manage, and oversee the life cycle of complex small to medium sourcing projects involving multiple stakeholders, significant facilitation, standardization, and process changes.
  • Review, redline, and draft contract language using working knowledge of contract construction; collaborate with legal for contract issues requiring input.
  • Utilize Supply Chain Management's digital systems, including strategic sourcing and contract lifecycle management applications, and ensure adoption and use by the team.
  • Partner with the Finance department to validate forecasted savings.
  • Ensure effective handoff of executed contracts to business owners, Supply Chain verticals, and other stakeholder departments, including accurate PO placement and broad understanding of contract value and milestones.
  • Track and measure supplier performance against scorecards on an ongoing basis and conduct supplier Business Reviews as necessary.
  • Facilitate dialogue with local business owners, RHM senior management, and Supply Chain staff to remove barriers when necessary.
  • Engage suppliers and RHMs to ensure timely resolution of service issues.
  • Establish procedures for managing a comprehensive sourcing process for assigned products/services/IT across Trinity Health.
  • Perform other duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in business, supply chain management, data science, or clinical discipline; and at least seven (7) years of sourcing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of supply chain principles and practices with demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in advanced data analytics and procurement practices, including intermediate to advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar applications, vendor relationships, and market analysis for trends.
  • Understanding of Lean and technical problem-solving concepts and techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive and positive working relationships with all stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Ability to address conflict, along with willingness and desire to challenge conventional thinking from all levels throughout the organization, including senior level management.
  • Capability to understand customer and stakeholder businesses at the financial, operational, and business impact levels.
  • Ability to proactively identify and bring forth potential issues and formulate viable solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to construct and execute multiple complex analyses (e.g., Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Economic Value to Customer (EVC), Net Present Value (NPV)) simultaneously.
  • Ability to translate implications of analyses into preliminary recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Ability to quickly gain a fact-based understanding of current supplier base and major trends in relevant markets.
  • Knowledge of contract law and governing regulations with ability to work collaboratively with internal legal counsel for optimal System contracting.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and independent worker requiring minimal supervision, manage priorities, and achieve performance standards and work plan timing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in data visualization, statistical analysis, and business intelligence tools.

Pay

$110k - $130k / year
