Responsibilities
- Handle the adjusting of the entire claim without the involvement of a Desk Adjuster.
- Collect and review all loss-related facts, perform an analysis under the terms of the insurance policy to make a coverage decision, and issue payments within the applicable authority level.
- Contact insureds to schedule inspections of damaged property, travel to affected properties, and conduct inspections in a timely manner.
- Photograph, sketch, and scope all damages. (Photos on non-damaged areas are needed also).
- Compose claims correspondence and keep insureds informed on the claims investigation.
- Determine the method and extent of investigation for each claim.
- Make assignments to outside experts or investigators when appropriate.
- Review and analyze all investigative and claim material to determine the facts of the loss.
- Interview insureds and witnesses to obtain loss facts (recorded & non-recorded interviews as necessary).
- Document all investigative actions in the claim file.
- Analyze the policy to determine the coverage for the loss.
- Evaluate coverage and make a coverage recommendation on each claim.
- Determine the total value of the claim.
- Request and disburse claim checks/payments within authority level.
- Make payment recommendations for amounts above authority level.
- Respond to all questions in a timely manner.
- Utilize several software programs throughout the day to determine the parameters of the loss.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to resolve various claims-related issues as they arise.
- Maintain compliance with quality standards and state regulations.
- Assist with catastrophe operations as required, including, but not limited to, working extra hours during major events or deploying to affected areas to help policyholders.
- Additional duties may arise as the candidate progresses.
- Assist Desk Adjusters with issues and needs for experts, submit reserve recommendations, email reports/estimates to home office, and assist with pricing and/or technical issues.
Qualifications
- A four-year college degree is preferred.
- Prior insurance experience with an insurance carrier or agency is required.
