Casual Nonexempt Research Associate - Department of Neuroscience

About the Job

The job responsibilities include:

  • Histology/Neuropathology (50%) - Prepare, process, embed, cut, and stain human and animal tissue for pathological analysis. Perform pathological quality checks and analysis through microscopic examination and statistical software. Knowledge of brain anatomy, morphology, and function is essential.
  • Quantitative Neuropathological Analysis using the Microbrighfield Stereology System (25%) - Use Area Fractionator, Optical Fractionator, and Spherical Probe Analysis for analysis. Write reports and present findings at laboratory meetings.
  • Technical Support (25%) - Train and tutor laboratory staff and colleagues on histological techniques and equipment. Attend annual histology meetings to stay updated on the latest approaches. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and ITN histology equipment.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials. Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Biology/Anatomy/Histology with 2 years of related experience or a combination of education and work experience totaling 6 years.
  • PREFERRED: MS Degree in Biology/Anatomy/Histology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $38.00/hour to $38.25/hour; dependent on education/qualifications/experience.
