Temporary Nonexempt Research Assistant - Department of Neuroscience

About The Job

Job Responsibilities
Prepare, process, embed, cut, and stain human and animal tissue for pathological analysis.
Perform microscopic examination and use various statistical software for pathological quality of tissue stains.
Particularly knowledgeable in brain anatomy, morphology, and function for neuropathological research.
Use Microbrighfield Stereology System for quantitative neuropathological analysis, including Area Fractionator, Optical Fractionator, and Spherical Probe Analysis.
Write reports and present findings at laboratory meetings.
Train and tutor laboratory staff and colleagues on histological techniques, microscope usage, and the use of the MBF Stereology system.
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and ITN histology equipment, including the MBF Stereology system, paraffin processing equipment, cryostat, paraffin microtome, and sliding microtome.
Supervise laboratory personnel in performing neuropathological/histological studies, including all aspects of histological analysis, use of equipment, and quantitative neuropathological analysis.

• Qualifications
• Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Anatomy, or Histology with 2 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience totaling 6 years.
• PREFERRED:
• Master’s Degree in Biology, Anatomy, or Histology.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $37.00 to $38.25 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
