Cast House Charge Operator

About the role

The Cast House Charge Operator coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up and operating the Melt furnace and peripheral equipment. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, reading and interpreting schedules, tracking cycle times, overseeing furnace operations, recommending improvements, communicating with supervisors, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Affirms safety and sets an example for the team
• Reads and interprets cast schedules and charge boards
• Tracks and achieves cycle time at the melt furnace
• Oversees melting furnace, charging equipment, and alloying process
• Recommends adjustments to work procedures
• Communicates pertinent information to Cast House Foreman and Supervisor
• Confers with Foreman to coordinate furnace operations
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of related experience
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents
• Computational skills for rate, ratio, and percent calculations
• Common sense understanding of safety rules and procedures
• Valid Forklift Operator’s license and prior forklift experience
• Completed Molten Metal training
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Passes pre-employment physical and drug screen
