Cash Management Specialist
About the role
The Operations Specialist on the Wire team conducts due diligence reviews on first and third-party transactions for potential fraudulent activity and reports such activity to management and the appropriate Risk group. The Wire team handles inbound and outbound calls from advisors and their clients regarding third-party wire-related inquiries. This role acts as a subject matter expert (SME) to internal and external business partners and handles escalated inquiries. The Specialist verifies third-party wire information directly with clients and assists with regular duties associated with a Cash Control team.
This is primarily a phone-based role with advisors, involving limited end-client interaction. The team collectively receives 60-100 calls per day, focusing on troubleshooting and investigations for outgoing wires. Processing is secondary, with responsibilities including secondary reviews, assisting with error queues, and managing a shared inbox.
Responsibilities
- Review wire deposits/distributions for funds availability, special instructions, and red flags; perform tests and document results.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls and the team mailbox; work with advisors, clients, and third-party institutions to research transactions and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Review and investigate potential suspicious activity, including suspected money laundering or structuring of financial transactions to avoid government reporting requirements.
- Assist the team with policy/procedural questions and provide training as needed to complete requests.
- Cross-train to review, analyze, and approve checks, wires, ACH, Depository Trust Company (DTC), and Accommodation Transfers and Journals to ensure conformity with firm policies, procedures, and regulatory rules.
- Assist management with firm and department audits and projects.
- Provide on-the-job training (OJT) for new hires.
- Handle ad hoc responsibilities to promote continuous improvement and business transformation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2-5 years of general brokerage industry knowledge; experience in cash management, new accounts, customer service, compliance, legal, regulatory, or fraud is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) and comfortable with Excel (advanced functions will be trained).
- Solid understanding of risks in the financial services industry.
- Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills; ability to articulate requirements and escalate when necessary.
- Ability to adapt to change, work independently, and collaborate in a team.
- At least a couple of years of financial services experience and experience handling phone-based interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- SIE and/or Series 7, 66, or 99 certifications.
- Experience with BETA, LexisNexis, or Nice systems.
- Experience with wires/money movement, call center operations, and BETA.

- Handle 40-50% of the team’s phone calls.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. Individual compensation will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
