Cash Application Specialist

We are looking for a Cash Application Specialist to support high-volume payment activity for a Contract position based in Overland Park, Kansas. This role focuses on applying incoming funds accurately, resolving payment discrepancies, and supporting revenue cycle operations across multiple entities. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling detailed remittance review, coordinating with banking partners on lockbox activity, and performing research to ensure cash is matched and posted correctly. Responsibilities: • Apply customer payments in a high-volume environment with strong attention to accuracy and timeliness. • Investigate unapplied cash, short payments, and deduction issues to support proper account resolution. • Reconcile remittance details to open receivables and complete manual matching when automated processes do not align. • Partner with bank contacts to manage lockbox transactions and improve the accuracy of payment posting. • Process write-offs in accordance with established guidelines and maintain supporting documentation. • Support accounts receivable and revenue cycle activities across 8 to 10 legal entities with varying billing requirements. • Review insurance-related payment documentation, including situations involving Citizens insurance paper for markets with licensing limitations. • Maintain accurate cash posting records and follow up on exceptions that require additional research or clarification. • Experience in cash application, cash posting, and payment processing within an accounts receivable environment. • Background working in high-volume transaction settings with strong accuracy and organization. • Knowledge of accounts receivable workflows, remittance processing, and payment reconciliation. • Ability to research discrepancies, resolve unmatched cash, and identify appropriate write-off treatment. • Familiarity with lockbox activity and coordinating with banking partners on payment-related items. • Understanding of revenue cycle processes and customer payment application practices. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when handling complex billing and cash matching scenarios.
