Responsibilities
- Apply incoming customer payments accurately and promptly to open accounts using established accounting procedures.
- Maintain accounts receivable records by reviewing remittance details, matching payments, and resolving posting discrepancies.
- Record cash activity across multiple payment types, including electronic funds transfers and other customer payment methods.
- Investigate unapplied cash, short payments, and account variances, then coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Use Sage accounting software and spreadsheet tools to track transactions, reconcile balances, and support daily cash posting operations.
- Prepare and manage email communication related to payment research, customer account updates, and follow-up on outstanding issues.
- Analyze transaction data in Microsoft Excel by using formulas, pivot tables, and lookup functions to support reporting and reconciliation needs.
- Possess strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, research discrepancies, and complete work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effectively communicate through clear and accurate email correspondence with internal teams and external contacts.
- Organize priorities, manage routine deadlines, and handle a steady volume of transactional work efficiently.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cash application, cash posting, or accounts receivable support within a fast-paced business environment.
- Working knowledge of payment processing, including applying receipts, posting payments, and handling electronic funds transfers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP for data review and reconciliation tasks.
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage to maintain accurate financial transaction records.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, research discrepancies, and complete work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective written communication skills for clear and accurate email correspondence with internal teams and external contacts.
- Ability to organize priorities, manage routine deadlines, and handle a steady volume of transactional work efficiently.
