About the role

CAMBA is a community organization providing a wide array of services to over 72,000 individuals and families annually across 100 locations. The Kensington Family Shelter, funded by the New York City Department of Homeless Services, offers a supportive environment for 64 homeless families transitioning to permanent housing.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients and ensure confidentiality.
  • Review and establish clients' eligibility for program services and maintain file copies.
  • Create and maintain client files and input data into CARES database.
  • Conduct initial and periodic assessments of clients' needs and develop independent living plans.
  • Aid clients in accessing community resources and referring them to appropriate services.
  • Schedule and escort clients to appointments related to education, healthcare, housing, and social services.
  • Help clients complete benefit and entitlement applications and advocate for them.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and referral organizations to monitor progress.
  • Provide required reports and may recommend closing cases based on client progress.
  • May prepare marketing materials and prescreen clients over the phone.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (e.g., B.A., B.S.W.) or equivalent experience.
  • State Central Registry (SCR) clearance, The Register of Substantiated Category One Cases of Abuse or Neglect (SEL) clearance, and criminal history information checks via fingerprinting with New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
  • Ability to maintain clearances throughout employment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (may be required).
  • Over-the-phone client screening and appointment scheduling (may be required).
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Qualifications

  • Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Compensation: $44,800 - $48,925 annually
