Case Manager, Mobile Crisis Outreach Team
About the role
The Crisis Clinician is embedded within the Cedar Park Police Department, partnering with officers in the department’s Mental Health Unit and serving as a member of the Northern Hub Mobile Crisis Outreach Team. This position provides in-person and televideo services in Williamson and Burnet Counties to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health crises. The role involves co-responding with officers, reducing police involvement when appropriate, and supporting coordination of treatment in lieu of arrest, emergency department use, and hospitalization.
The Crisis Clinician dispatches to various community locations (e.g., schools, emergency rooms, homes, and BTCS clinics) to deliver crisis intervention, screening, referral, relapse prevention, and follow-up services. Follow-up may include case management, individual and group skills training, Person-Centered Recovery Planning, supported housing/employment, discharge planning, and linkage to ongoing services.
This position collaboratively partners with law enforcement, the medical community, schools, families, and social service agencies to assist persons in crisis. The clinician must possess strong knowledge of principles, methods, and practices for working with individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and/or developmental crises, and must communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
The role requires a flexible work schedule, the ability to work independently yet collaboratively, and rotating on-call responsibilities at $30/day. This is an Essential position, required to work on-site, including holidays on a rotating basis as MCOT operates 24/7/365.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention, screening, referral, relapse prevention, and follow-up services in community settings.
- Co-respond with law enforcement officers to support individuals in behavioral health crises.
- Reduce unnecessary police involvement, emergency department use, and hospitalization through treatment coordination.
- Deliver case management, skills training, Person-Centered Recovery Planning, and supported housing/employment services.
- Conduct discharge planning and linkage to ongoing services for individuals in crisis.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, medical professionals, schools, families, and social service agencies.
- Document services using integrated computer database programs and organize work assignments.
- Participate in rotating on-call duties and work holidays as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (or a minimum of 24 college credits in human services if degree is in another field).
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, recovery-focused environment.
- Skills and experience using integrated computer database programs for documentation and file access.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must pass extensive background checks through Cedar Park Police Department.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Pursuing clinical licensure in counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Bilingual in ASL or Spanish.
- Experience providing concurrent documentation.
- Two years of crisis experience and two years of case management experience.
Pay
Hourly salary range: $25.23 – $32.48.
- $1.00/hour for 2 years of previous experience in a similar position.
- Up to $4.00/hour for tenure with BTCS.
- $0.75/hour for bilingual skills.
- $1.00/hour for Associate or Advanced Licensure.
- $0.50/hour for LCDC Licensure.
- Shift differentials:
- Evening Shift: $2.00/hour
- Night Shift: $4.00/hour
- Weekend Shift: $4.00/hour
- Weekend Night Shift: $6.00/hour
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
- Rotating on-call responsibilities at $30/day.
- Required to work holidays on a rotating basis.
