Responsibilities
- Assist clients in navigating resources and accessing housing assessments.
- Attend and engage in required annual trainings.
- Assess client eligibility and aid in gathering documentation for intake, enrollment, and shelter placement.
- Provide direct service to participants, including case management and housing placement support to help participants become self-sufficient and overcome barriers to permanent housing.
- Develop Action Plans that identify participant needs, barriers, and strengths.
- Establish and maintain active working relationships with community partners.
- Provide support for client-tracking, service delivery, follow-up reporting, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Maintain full compliance with all federal, state, and grant program requirements, ensuring high standards for data quality and compliance performance.
- Work cooperatively with other ARCHES Project programming to ensure quality and timely client service delivery.
- Comply with agency Quarterly and Annual reports and MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.
- Perform cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of day-to-day sheltering operations.
- Support nutrition staff as needed by completing various kitchen tasks, including cooking meals.
- Participate in Community Outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times.
Requirements
- Two years of related social service experience, direct client care; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ideal candidates will possess an advanced degree with two or more years of homeless service delivery experience and mental health certifications and/or licensing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Pass Oregon Department of Human Services criminal background check and MWVCAA agency background check.
- Obtain Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification within first 30 days of hire.
- Obtain Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of or experience with the principles of coordinated assessment, working with unsheltered or vulnerable populations, and best practices in homeless service delivery is preferred.
- Basic proficiencies in computers, MS Office products, database software, and web tools.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently required to hear and speak.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for handling computers, devices, and office equipment.
- Maintain calm disposition when clients or others may become escalated, applying crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Regulate emotions during interactions with escalated clients and staff, and handle pressures of frequent demands for attention, time, and work tasks.
Work Environment
- Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
- Occasional outdoor environment including perimeter monitoring.
- Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
- Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
- Exposure to trash, bodily fluids, and malodorous air.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
