About the role
The Family Independence Administration (FIA) is recruiting for two (2) Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist II (ABOS II) positions to function as Case Management Team Leaders. These roles supervise teams of Benefits Opportunity Specialists (BOS) who handle various functions of eligibility determination, financial planning, and economic support opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain workflow of BOS workers handling applications, Family Assistance cases, Safety Net case reopens, and one-shot deals.
- Review and authorize benefits for specific cases.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports, including Work lists.
- Act as liaison to the Rental Assistance Unit.
- Conduct daily sweeps to monitor service quality.
- Manage teams of BOS workers for different stages of case management.
- Oversee clerical and BOS workers for quick service and client communication.
- Interview tenants for housing needs and develop ant-eviction/housing plans.
- Monitor conference activities and prepare regular reports.
- Prepare and present reports on key performance outcomes.
- Perform final review of packets before fair hearings and represent the agency in the hearing room.
- Conduct fields visits as necessary.
Requirements
- A four-year high school diploma or equivalent, and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in social/human services or a related field.
- A baccalaureate degree and eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist, or similar experience.
- College credit from an accredited college may substitute for experience on a 60 semester credits for 9 months basis.
Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
- At least 18 months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or in social/human services work.
