About the role

The Village of Hope case aide provides community and home-based housing support services to individuals and families who have experienced homelessness, and whose health, mental health, substance use history and socioeconomic issues create barriers to accessing housing. Services are focused on supporting the individual and/or family to stabilize their housing, end experiences with homelessness, improve health and move forward in recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial intake assessment to determine clients' goals, barriers, and resources.
  • Assist coordination and implementation of case management services to clients and the community.
  • Maintain records of client activities with case management reporting.
  • Initiate services to address mental health, substance abuse, and disability issues when necessary.
  • Assist program participants through the housing process including identifying and applying for housing, addressing possible barriers to housing approval, identifying resources for move-in costs and furnishings, and providing ongoing retention services, while explaining rights under both Tribal, State and Federal housing laws.
  • Maintain updated information tools for client use in accessing community resources.
  • Update client information in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Organize and facilitate community events for residents to build community within VOH programs.
  • Coordinate off-site, local community events.
  • Responsible for front desk operations (i.e. greeting guests, answering phones, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation of spreadsheets, correspondence and reports as related to Village of Hope programs.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to the chronic homeless, as a program courtesy.
  • Attend tenant and staff meetings.
  • Assist program staff with other duties, as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Minimum Of Two (2) Years' Case Management Experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years working with the unhoused and/or low-income populations.
  • Possess a strong understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma among indigenous communities.
  • Knowledge of referral resources.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Google Docs/Sheets, etc.
  • Current First-aid/CPR certification.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Tribal Driver Permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience using Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Three to four years' experience working with the unhoused population and/or low-income populations.
  • Completion of Narcan training.
  • Completion of Mental Health training.
  • Enrolled Yakama Preference or descendent, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

  • Knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and professional standards of providing services to the unhoused population.
  • Knowledge in accessing local community agencies and resources.
  • High levels of self-awareness and ability to work efficiently with and relate to populations being served.
  • Efficient in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide case notes and other documentation and filing them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently, with staff, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism with co-workers, clients, associates and public.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with social service providers and partners.

Pay

Hourly Wage: $23.28/Regular/Full-Time
