About the role

As a Route Sales Supervisor, oversee Route Sales Representatives (including Reliefs and hourly Leads) to ensure compliance with Rich’s policies and Federal DOT guidelines, delivering excellent customer service and effective merchandising in all supermarket accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop the route sales team through frequent route rides, market tours, and meetings with bakery/store management to create action plans that increase business.
  • Mentor and motivate associates, offering training for optimal performance, growth, and excellence in service to supermarket accounts.
  • Own recruitment efforts and hiring for the assigned region in coordination with Talent Acquisition.
  • Communicate performance standards, recognize and reward accomplishments, and address performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety practices, and DOT regulations.
  • Review, approve, and ensure policy compliance for direct reports’ travel, expenses, timekeeping, and payroll data.
  • Maintain efficiency and cost-effectiveness in all aspects of Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations.
  • Develop and sustain positive relationships with chain operations personnel to expand distribution, execute promotions, and resolve issues.
  • Ensure products are sold to appropriate accounts and implement pricing strategies, including promotions, accurately.
  • Fill in for Route Sales Representatives as needed to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality service to Carvel’s supermarket accounts.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by management to support Rich’s business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred (concentration in business or related field).
  • 3+ years’ experience in Direct Store Delivery or 5+ years in Grocery/Retail.
  • 3+ years’ prior supervisory experience demonstrating positive leadership.
  • Valid CDL Class B license preferred (must obtain within 30 days of employment if not already held) and clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to travel overnight and out of town up to 50%.
  • Self-motivated with initiative, sound judgment, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer, math, and analytical skills.
  • 21 years or older.

Physical Requirements

  • Drive while adhering to traffic laws and DOT regulations; maintain DOT medical certification.
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, and walking daily, including between truck-to-store merchandising trips.
  • Regularly enter and exit Company vehicle (approximately 4 ft above ground) using proper Three-Points of Contact process for ladders/stairs.
  • Lift up to 55 pounds routinely.
  • Transport products at customer locations using carts or hand trucks, navigating parking lots, sidewalks, ramps, and vehicle traffic.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, turning, squatting, and kneeling while moving and merchandising product.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frozen product, and refrigerated environments below 0 degrees.
  • Wear company-provided uniform and safety shoes (certified safety toe and slip resistant).
  • Push product carts up to 450 pounds when fully loaded.
  • Maintain alertness and work long hours, typically starting early in the morning.

Pay

Annual Range: $81,998.65 - $110,939.35
