Carthage Grocery - Customer Service Rep - Part time
About the Role
As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for providing a well-stocked and well-maintained department while delivering superior customer service. This role involves stocking and rotating products, maintaining department and safety standards, and assisting customers with their needs.
Responsibilities
- Stock and rotate items as needed.
- Assist with inventory control; load, unload, and move product.
- Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
- Organize merchandise on pallets to present the department professionally to the public.
- Ensure integrity of shelf tags and signage; create or prepare signage as needed.
- Maintain standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation.
- Check shipments for out-of-date and damaged products to ensure freshness and quality.
- Build, stock, maintain, and take down store displays.
- Provide superior customer service by answering questions and assisting customers with selections.
- Help customers locate store merchandise.
- Merchandise product effectively and use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
- Clean and sanitize sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
- Properly handle and maintain the operation of all equipment.
- Comply with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Beauty: Knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids.
- Drugstore / General Merchandise: Prepare tags and signs as needed.
- Grocery: Organize, clean, and prepare back area for the night crew and incoming trucks; prepare tags and signs as needed.
- Texas Backyard: Passion for the outdoors; ability to complete Green Thumb training (H-E-B internal training).
- Entertainment: Knowledge in the audio/video field, including specialty products, movies, music, electronics, and video games.

Requirements
- 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training upon hire.

This role functions in a fast-paced, retail environment with detailed and precise tasks. You will work with customers and stay attentive to their needs. Physical demands vary by department:
General Physical Demands
- Constantly (5.5+ hours per 8-hour day): Reach at waist, grasp.
- Frequently (2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day): Stand, walk, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, stoop, pivot, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements.
- Occasionally (0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour day): Sit, reach at overhead, reach at floor, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, climb ladders, twist.
