Major Duties and Responsibilities Warehouse: Safety is the FIRST duty and responsibility for everyone that works in an Expeditors warehouse. Ensure all vendor safety practices are adhered to, instruct others of proper safety practices and advise supervisor of abusesAs the shift lead, you will collaborate closely with agents and 3rd party to ensure smooth daily and weekly operations. You will be responsible for identifying and addressing any inconsistencies in the plan, and communicating these issues directly with the manager. Maintain the level of appearance of the warehouse expected by the Expeditors cultureCheck for and verify all documentation while completing required processes accurately and efficientlyUnload and load cargo in a safely, accurately and efficientlyArrange for the transfer of cargo using radio, telephone and computer communication Preform or oversee all aspects of warehouse staffing, includes permanent and contingent staffLead team in warehouse excellenceEnsure coverage of operations with staff who have the appropriate certifications Onboard newly hired staffDirect employee versatility (cross training)Responsible for updating and entering event codes when necessaryWhen instructed, responsible for conducting cycle counts, physical inventories and the overall accuracy of the inventory stored within the facility. Oversee all receiving, shipping, container positioning, and inventory activities following operational standards (OPS) and KPI expectationsImprove safety, quality, delivery and cost through continuous improvement methodsMaintain compliance to all facility certification requirements and government policiesParticipate in quoting, transitioning, and onboarding new customersManage, prevent, and resolve inventory, over/short/damage, process and customer exceptionsOperate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in the process of moving products safely. Pickup & Delivery & Team Operations (Cartage) Supports pickup & delivery operations within the district. Proactively communicates with product. Serves as the liaison between product, warehouse, and cartage providers. Daily focus on meeting established KPI for the district cartage program including (95%+ on time pick up & delivery) and the program’sMonitors activity dashboard and systems through the day. Manages service exceptions and resolves them in a timely manner. Prepares periodic reports and presents such reports to management. Manages process of diversion to outside carriers as needed. Assist in developing new strategies for maintaining or improving quality-of-service, growing the cartage program, and ensuring internal and external success. Manages process for documenting and communicating accessorial charges. Focus on minimizing cost and improving operational efficiency. Coordinates daily activities with warehouse team. Serves as an escalation path for operations when local PU/D challenges arise and communicate resolutions. Be a role model of our cultural attributes for all employees. Perform supervisor duties required for leading a team such as check-ins, reviews, administrative tasks. Be a coach, mentor, positive influence, and welcoming resource to help develop the cartage team. Constantly contributes new ideas and challenges the team to do the same, driving the growth and continuous improvement of the cartage program. Dedicated Fleet Operations (Cartage) Works with service providers to ensure efficient usage of equipment and drivers. Monitors and assists service provider, branch, and associated parties in the control of variable cost. Responsible for proper coding and reporting of delays and exceptions. Rate audits & payables approval. Review financial data as requested. Root cause analysis on service failures and develop corrective action as necessary. Provide costing and price support to products. Conduct quarterly service provider evaluations in support of the Service Provider Management Program. Major Duties and Responsibilities Transcon: Ensure all action taken by the Transcon department is completed within the guidelines set by Expeditors Operational Process Standards Consistently manage the department workload throughout the day and allocate the necessary resources to ensure expectations are being exceeded at all levels/functions Maintain timely communication (internal/external) through all medians for the department per Expeditors communication standards Preserve data through timely and accurate system updates and provide operational reports to customers Manage status reports, monitors and databases per roll specific expectations Manage all aspects of the department finances accurately and timely billing Manage and develop relationships with external entities through problem resolution, rate negotiations, strategic planning, evaluations and SPA management Serve as the first level of escalation between Expeditors and its customers, vendors, and other groups within Expeditors Provide warehouse staff with necessary documents and information needed to receive and ship the orders as efficiently as possible to ensure customer expectations are met Administer consistent employee evaluations and create development plans for department personnel’s future progress within Expeditors Support the manager in the following areas: Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors (airlines, trucking companies, and others)Working to be our vendors lowest cost customer promoting market solutionsEvaluating vendors at defined intervals per company policy, focusing on areas of possible improvement with corrective action plans where needed Expectations at Supervisor Finances: Meet weekly or more if required with the department manager Support the manager as required and applicable in the following areas: Proactively work to maintain accounts payment within 30 daysEnsure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectivelyManage accounts payable to vendors (airlines, truckers etc.) utilizing BNPManage intercompany accounting discrepancies via AJAX report Sales / Retention Support the manager and or the sales department where needed: Pro-actively provide pricing alternatives, routing solutions and technical assistance to clients through internal sales both regional and globalRespond to requests for proposal, quotation or information timely and with market competitive pricing matching the scope of service required by the customerTake an active role in the transition of new business/ updates to existing businessParticipate to retention calls and complete customer reviews and with your regular customers to document in the CRS People: Identify with manager, develop, and mentor your No. 2Allocate workloads within team to ensure smooth operations during peak activity or staff absenceEnsure team meets company standards of 52 hours training per year per employeeEnsure that the new hires complete company’s mandatory training within the first 6 monthsSupport the manager where neededParticipate to staff appraisals, and at a minimum once per year per employeeEnsure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plansContribute to the effective weekly department meetings with teamReview department goals and business plan periodically with team to ensure buy-in and accountability Systems: Ensure department is using all system tools to their greatest advantage based on your department size and organization.
