Carrier Sales Representative, Drayage, Road US
About the role
DSV is the world's third-largest supplier of global transport and logistics solutions. The Carrier Sales Representative, Drayage plays a key role within the Road US brokerage team, responsible for sourcing, securing, and managing drayage carrier capacity to support DSV's port and intermodal freight operations.
Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and secure drayage carriers and drivers to cover available freight in a cost-effective and service-focused manner.
- Manage daily dispatch operations, ensuring accurate communication of shipment details, container information, and appointment requirements to carriers.
- Coordinate container pickups, returns, and appointment scheduling while ensuring compliance with port and terminal requirements.
- Collect and verify all carrier documentation for on-time shipment closeout and billing.
- Build, develop, and maintain long-term carrier relationships to strengthen capacity reliability and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to provide operational support, pricing input, and customer updates as needed.
- Aid in customer service and account management functions to ensure consistent communication and successful delivery performance.
- Stay informed on current market conditions, port congestion, chassis availability, rate trends, and seasonal fluctuations to ensure competitive pricing and operational efficiency.
- Generate new carrier leads and onboard qualified drayage partners to expand DSV’s carrier network.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment, port, or service issues using sound judgment and effective problem-solving.
- Perform additional duties and project work as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or customer service (3+ years preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of carrier sales experience with a focus on drayage (3+ years preferred).
- Strong understanding of transportation and drayage operations, including carrier regulations, port procedures, and industry best practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Analytical thinker with strong mathematical aptitude for pricing and rate analysis.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Thrives under pressure and demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and accountability.

The position primarily involves sedentary work in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, speak on the phone, and participate in virtual meetings. Frequent use of hands and fingers is necessary to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment. The role requires regular verbal communication and the ability to exchange accurate information with customers, carriers, and internal teams. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and bending may be required to retrieve files or collaborate with team members. This role may occasionally lift or move office materials weighing up to approximately 15 pounds, such as files, documents, or a laptop.

Pay
The expected base pay range is $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
