Carpenter Maintenance

Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, adapt, maintain, and use hand and power tools of the trade.
  • Use shop math and read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders to determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Operate vehicles up to 1-1/2 ton capacity (valid operator’s license required).
  • Apply accepted trade techniques and methods for painting duties.
  • Perform maintenance and finish carpentry and millwork for new construction, modification, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures, and items, with full responsibility for project details.
  • Work as an individual or as part of a crew, occasionally directing lower-graded employees in carpentry and related duties.
  • Perform layout and clean-up of demolition projects as assigned.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated, but exposed to disagreeable fumes.
  • Frequent physical demands include walking; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.

Other Responsibilities

  • Safety: Participate in safety culture, complete all training, fulfill self-aid/buddy-aid responsibilities, and serve on safety committees/teams.
  • Quality: Adhere to Amentum’s Quality Policy, ensuring services meet customer expectations and comply with applicable quality system documents and customer contracts.
  • Procedure Compliance: Read, understand, and implement operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements for the job.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year certificate from an accredited college/university or five (5) years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply basic math to estimate square footage, square yards, cubic foot/yards, linear or board feet, and quantities needed.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must lift and carry items weighing 40–45 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and stand.
  • Must obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screen and government background check is required.
  • Must successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) within 60 days of hire if required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be available for any shift, including weekends and other hours as needed.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.

Pay

$20.44 per hour.
