Carpenter Journeyman

About the Role

In this role, you will construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools while conforming to local building codes. You will read and interpret construction documents to find information related to the project. Other duties may include installing concrete reinforcement, connection embeds, use of multiple form systems, trim work, door, and hardware installation.

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety rules
• Provide leadership to carpenter helpers, apprentices, and laborers
• Erect scaffolding
• Maintain or modify woodwork and other related structures
• Occasionally work around hazardous material and equipment
• Construct forms
• Install anchor bolts, reinforcing steel, and embeds
• Frame floors, walls, and roof structures
• Demolition of concrete and wood structures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in carpentry
• Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, this position requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
