About the Role

This position provides operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. The Intermediate Carpenter is a level 3 role in the Progressive Carpenter track, responsible for working with minimal supervision, assisting with scope development alongside BELFOR Estimators, and running projects autonomously. The role also involves mentoring basic-level carpenters and expanding capabilities from residential to commercial and multi-family projects.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize potential problems with the project and request additional guidance or assistance as needed.
  • Answer most project-related questions and direct complex or specific inquiries to the appropriate resource.
  • Move and protect contents without damage.
  • Construct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt, and airborne contaminants in the working area.
  • Using appropriate tools and BELFOR methods, perform tasks related to floodcutting, salvaging, and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, and other materials.
  • Attend and complete shrink wrap training, including executing 4 projects involving shrink wrap.
  • Develop the ability to identify different types of insulation, their thickness, and their respective R-values.
  • Apply learned skills and material knowledge in Trim, Doors, Cabinetry, Insulation, Rough Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Roofing Materials, and Exterior Siding to daily tasks.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections, ensuring the vehicle remains clean and serviceable.
  • Maintain attention to detail and meet BELFOR Standards for safeguarding clients' property.
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific project timelines.
  • Work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodically.
  • Report time worked, equipment, and consumables used accurately and timely.
  • Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.
  • Supervise unskilled labor, basic-level BELFOR employees, and occasional subcontractors in residential settings.
  • Answer simple project-related questions and defer complex inquiries to more qualified personnel.
  • Maintain equipment used in daily tasks.
  • Perform emergency services as needed, such as board-ups and securing buildings against further damage.
  • Complete additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Extensive carpentry experience with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Capability to assist with scope development alongside BELFOR Estimators and run projects autonomously.
  • Experience in expanding carpentry skills from residential to commercial and multi-family projects.
  • Competence in leading and self-performing emergency services.
  • Proficiency in various carpentry subsets, including framing, cabinetry, and trim.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
