About the Role

An Industrial Journeyman Carpenter will construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
  • Possess all required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (see Qualifications).
  • Meet all physical requirements.
  • Have Carpentry experience and experience working on an industrial construction project.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Possess all required tools.
  • Have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years working as a carpenter or carpenter helper on an industrial construction project.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
  • Ability to work a full schedule and additional overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties.
  • Commitment to working safely and following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Adherence to all company and site rules and regulations.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
  • Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
  • Formal/Technical education.
  • Experience working with concrete and rebar.

Physical Requirements

  • Large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Ability to talk and hear to communicate.
  • Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
  • Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding with appropriate fall protection.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Wearing required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
