About the Role
An Industrial Journeyman Carpenter will construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
- Possess all required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (see Qualifications).
- Meet all physical requirements.
- Have Carpentry experience and experience working on an industrial construction project.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Possess all required tools.
- Have reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- 4+ years working as a carpenter or carpenter helper on an industrial construction project.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, and drawings.
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
- Ability to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
- Ability to work a full schedule and additional overtime as needed.
- Willingness to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties.
- Commitment to working safely and following all safety rules and regulations.
- Adherence to all company and site rules and regulations.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
- Formal/Technical education.
- Experience working with concrete and rebar.
Physical Requirements
- Large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate.
- Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding with appropriate fall protection.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Wearing required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
