About the Role
Provides maintenance services, installs and repairs carpentry work in an industrial plant to keep structures and fixtures in good working order.
Responsibilities
- Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood and plywood using hand tools and power tools.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, or plans to determine material requirements.
- Marks measurements on materials and cuts using appropriate tools.
- Verifies trueness of structures.
- Erects framework for structures and sub-flooring.
Requirements
- Demonstrated industrial maintenance experience.
- Carpentry experience in a maintenance environment.
- Good reading comprehension and ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures.
- Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
- Must possess Journeyman Carpenter tools.
- Minimum 1-4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work as needed.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety rules and regulations.
- NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former Zachry employee.
- Formal education, degree, or certificate in construction, technical, or trade school (e.g., NCCER Carpenter Certification).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
- Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional work at heights, climbing ladders and stairways, and working off platforms.
- Vision abilities including focus, depth perception, color recognition, and peripheral vision.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to all weather conditions, including warm/hot and cool/cold temperatures, and occasional rain.
- Work at various elevations.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Job site may contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools.
- Presence of people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking.
- Exposure to bells, whistles, and alarms.
