Carpenter

This position is accountable for providing carpentry skills at marine project locations. Incumbents construct, erect, install, and repair concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel supports, frame buildings, and shelters according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions. Responsibilities

• Work as assigned by the Project Superintendent or Barge Foreman to ensure successful completion of marine construction projects.
• Secure and maintain basic carpentry tools (e.g., hammer, nail bag, tape measure, utility knives, chisels, level, framing square, screwdrivers, nail set).
• Return tools to the Marine Yard or secured job site location upon project completion.
• Interpret plans and specifications to build, construct, or repair wooden structures or forms.
• Receive and offload building/construction materials safely and proficiently.
• Lay out foundations, building lines, and anchor bolts.
• Shoot elevations and grades as required by the project.
• Erect forms and monitor pours for depressed areas, building lines, and anchor bolts.
• Perform wood framing and metal stud framing as dictated by the project.
• Inspect and make minor repairs to wooden structures.
• Pick up materials and supplies needed to complete the project.
• Collaborate with the Barge Foreman, Crane Operators, Helpers, and other skilled crafts persons to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives to comply with State/Federal regulations and improve Company programs.
• Adhere to all safety responsibilities, including stopping work for unsafe conditions and reporting violations.
• Perform other administrative and technical duties as assigned (e.g., certification training, safety training, procedure review).
• Maintain confidentiality of Company proprietary or trade secret information.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years carpentry experience or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Proficiency in carpentry practices and materials related to concrete forming for reinforced concrete structures.
• Knowledge of marine equipment and devices.
• Understanding of safe work practices in a marine construction environment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform carpentry tasks and general knowledge of concrete forming systems.
• Strong communication skills.

• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Physical ability to:
  • Walk, step, climb, or move between locations on job sites, including onto/off work barges, boats, vessels, or docks of varying heights.
  • Stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, or sit for long periods.
  • Perform repetitive movements (feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, back).
  • Climb vertical ladders up to 40'-50'.
  • Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Adapt to extreme temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure.
