Responsibilities

  • Aid in the assembly and removal of concrete forms for concrete installation.
  • Assist with building and installing window frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
  • Ensure that flooring, roofing, and drywall layouts are level and compatible.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
  • Measure and calculate the necessary materials and cut, shape, and smooth wood or other materials according to specifications.
  • Handle, transport, and set door frames.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Job shadow in assigned areas to gain project knowledge and skill progression.
  • Assist with area housekeeping.
  • Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
  • Secure the jobsite at the end of each workday and verify proper storage of site materials.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must adhere to safe work practices as per Hensel Phelps’ safety and health program.
  • Ability to take initiative and ask questions.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Must provide your own safety footwear.
  • Effective communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with consistent work attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.

  • Measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
  • This includes cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials according to requested measurements.
  • Assist with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Job shadow in area assignments to ensure project knowledge and skill progression.
  • Assist with area housekeeping.
  • Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
  • This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored.

Physical Work Classification & Demands

  • Heavy Work.
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Frequent walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading/seeing, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and finger/type.
  • Periodic climbing, working from heights, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, hearing commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures, noisy environment, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, and repetitive use of power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers.
  • Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds.
  • Must be able to safely wear a respirator and pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations.
