Carpenter

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Carpenter in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Carpenter performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors.

Responsibilities

• Planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
• Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work.
• Performs all facets of carpentry maintenance and installations.
• Door and door hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Drywall installation and prep to level 4.
• Flooring installation: carpet, carpet tiles, LVP, laminate.
• Communicate well with clients to ensure client satisfaction.
• Communicate well with team members and fellow employees.
• Keep detailed reports of work done at various job sites.
• Performs general maintenance tasks necessary for repair.
• Responds to maintenance calls, troubleshooting and repairing issues.
• Prepares estimates, man hours, materials used and orders items needed for job completion or inventory replacement per established procedures.
• Follows all policy, procedures and service standards and complies with all current related safety and health requirements.
• Ability to work independently or in a team-driven setting.
• Basic decision-making skills; uses independent judgment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school Diploma or GED
• Valid Real ID Drivers license
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program with 2 years of experience or 5 years of carpentry experience
• Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and construction drawings
• Skilled in use of tools common to the trade
• Must possess an active government issued clearance or ability to obtain one at time of application

Pay

$30 per hour
