About the role
The primary role of the Caregiver is to provide care and supervision to residents as needed, as indicated in the service plan, including those activities of daily living such as dressing, eating, bathing and assistance with taking prescribed medications as ordered by physician. Ensures safe and healthful living accommodations and services. Respond to resident's needs and requests.
Duties
- Assists residents with activities of daily living such as showering, dressing and escort services as needed
- Ensures residents get down to meals in the dining room, or have tray service if temporarily unable to leave room for meals
- Sees that resident's rooms are neat, clean and orderly. Notify housekeeping if room needs additional cleaning
- Observes residents and report any changes in condition to the Wellness Coordinator or Family/responsible if after hours
- Reports any occurrences to the next shift and write in the communications log
- Understands and follows safety and sanitation rules and properly reports any violations to Wellness Nurse
Qualifications
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Criminal clearance and fingerprints for CCL
- Possess knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation principles
- Possess principles of good nutrition, good food preparation and storage and menu planning
- Possess knowledge necessary in order to recognize early signs of illness and the need for professional help
