Caregiver / Med Tech NOC SHIFT 10 PM-6:30 AM
Fair Oaks Estates is a locally owned assisted living and memory care community in Carmichael. We’ve served families across the Sacramento Valley for over 20 years, operating as a 63-bedroom community providing assisted living and memory care for residents with dementia. Our caregivers build long-term relationships with residents, understanding their evolving needs while supporting their independence.
About the role
Fair Oaks Estates is hiring a full-time overnight Caregiver who is also trained and certified as a Medication Technician. This is primarily a caregiving role with medication administration as a secondary responsibility. The bulk of your shift involves direct resident care, including safety checks, repositioning, and assisting with overnight needs. Medication duties are limited to overnight schedules and PRNs, requiring precise documentation and adherence to protocols. Training is structured and paid: caregiver orientation first, followed by medication training and supervised med room time. Nights are quieter but demanding—you’ll handle safety checks, assist with toileting, manage nighttime disorientation, and respond to emergencies independently. This role suits someone who is observant, self-directed, and comfortable with responsibility.

- Verify narcotic counts at shift change and report discrepancies.
- Audit the med cart for expired medications.
- Follow up on new physician orders received via fax.
- Maintain a seven-day supply of medications and reorder as needed.
- Ensure the med room complies with company guidelines and Title 22.
- Confirm staffing levels and arrange coverage if needed.
- Ensure coworkers take meal periods, rest breaks, and document showers/skin checks.
- Run the change-of-shift meeting to update the morning team.
- Alert management to any resident condition changes immediately.
- Ensure hall coverage before clocking out.
