Responsibilities
- Ensure the attainment of Victory Housing Mission Statement.
- Adhere to Victory Housing policies and procedures, COMAR 10.07.14 regulations, and comply with County, State, and Federal guidelines.
- Implement universal precautions and infectious disease control protocols.
- Complete assigned training, including initial orientation, COMAR 10.07.14 requirements, monthly in-services, HIPAA, and VHI required personal care and skills modules.
- Participate in required safety and disaster drills.
- Provide personal care needs, emotional support, and social stimulation to residents.
- Utilize Eldermark platform to adhere to assigned resident service delivery and daily tasks.
- Document completion of tasks using assigned iPad.
- Assist residents according to Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Care Tracker.
- Perform housekeeping tasks in the resident’s suite as needed, such as emptying trash, cleaning toilets or sinks, putting clothes away, etc.
- Be responsible for toileting residents as assigned and/or needed.
- Document any unusual behavior in Progress Notes and notify relevant healthcare professionals.
- Serve meals in the dining room with attention to hospitality and customer service.
- Assist in serving meals according to serving patterns or assigned tables.
- Clear dishes as residents finish each course and offer diabetic desserts if appropriate.
- Assist with clean-up after meals, including vacuuming, sweeping, or mopping the dining room, and restocking the Victory Drink, Snack, and Laugh Station.
- Prepare coffee and tea, ensuring they are always available for residents and guests.
- Bring dirty cups, glasses, and plates to the kitchen and wash any clothing that needs immediate attention.
- Assist residents with physical support as needed, including assisting with ambulation, transfers, and evacuations during emergencies.
- Document legibly in English appropriate information in the Communication Log.
- Teach and encourage self-care and independence whenever possible, in coordination and direction by the Health, Wellness, Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator.
- Encourage social interaction with other residents, family members, or staff.
- Perform special duties as assigned, such as cleaning laundry rooms, storage closets, etc.
- Maintain a safe environment by following safety procedures for lifting and transferring, fire, and disaster reporting, and reporting any equipment malfunctions.
- Report any unsafe or unsanitary conditions and complete accident reports when appropriate.
- Follow proper infection control techniques and maintain good public relations through a positive and professional attitude.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in caring for geriatric residents.
- Training and experience as a certified nurse aide preferred.
- Team player with good communication skills, caring attitude, and genuine concern for seniors.
- Must speak, read, and write in English.
- Must be current on all vaccinations, including COVID-19, and receive CDC recommended booster doses.
