Career Coordinator

Full-time position located in Woodward, OK. Primary working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. FLSA status: Non-Exempt. Minimal travel required, mainly for training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and promote career assessment and vocational counseling through applicant interviews and qualification evaluations to determine employment needs, job skills, placement, training, and referrals under a case management system.
  • Ensure optimal delivery of multiple employment services during business hours, prioritizing special-needs clients, and recording required information in EmployOklahoma.
  • Utilize EmployOklahoma to register customers for employment, unemployment services, and additional education and training services.
  • Establish claims for Unemployment Insurance benefits, including interpreting multi-state unemployment insurance laws, analyzing claims for accuracy, fact-finding, and maintaining files with priority service to special-needs clients.
  • Communicate with management, employers, applicants, claimants, and coworkers regarding job orders, referrals, job developments, and unemployment insurance benefits; prepare clear, concise reports as needed.
  • Professionally manage career assessment, vocational counseling, job placement, and other social services at the local American Job Center in compliance with Department of Labor’s state and federal laws, prioritizing veterans and special-needs applicants.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure optimal results for workforce center activities, maintaining a friendly office atmosphere.
  • Assist with resource room functions, including unemployment insurance eligibility, filing claims, and training on UI functions and compensation services.
  • Support workforce center receptionist duties as assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings, required training, and cross-training to assist with workforce center duties.
  • Operate office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
  • On-site attendance is essential for direct interaction with staff, clients, and office resources.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in employment services, career or vocational guidance and counseling, personnel, recruitment, training, customer services, or social services-related work.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university for up to three years of the required work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Teams) and the Internet; ability to learn additional software as needed.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Knowledge of: business English, spelling, punctuation, and mathematics; modern office methods and procedures; employment practices and problems; economic and social trends; community and social service providers; interviewing principles; social assistance requirements; U.S. Department of Labor one-stop workforce initiatives; laws, rules, and regulations of public employment service, unemployment compensation, job training, and social services programs; occupations and industries; basic psychology and human relations.
  • Skills and Competencies: excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to: maintain effective working relationships; work independently; deal courteously with people; multitask; exercise good judgment in evaluating eligibility and case management situations; make decisions; handle confidential work; resolve problems; interpret state and federal laws, especially pertaining to veterans programs and social services; follow oral or written instructions.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting with moderate noise levels. The role requires regular periods of sitting or standing, daily use of a computer and phone, and occasional use of office machinery. Employees must be able to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

Pay

Annual salary of $40,948.00; hourly rate of $19.69 ($19.686538).
