About the role

The Student Services Professional III/Career Advisor position at California State University (CSU), Chico is a comprehensive and residential role within the university's seven colleges. The position involves developing and facilitating workshops, seminars, and presentations on various topics such as resume writing, interview skills, job market trends, and job search strategies. The advisor works closely with students, student organizations, administration, and faculty to support career planning and related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and presentations on career planning and related topics.
  • Provide comprehensive and independent student advisement and guidance in individual and group settings.
  • Work pro-actively in a team environment to develop and implement programs that encourage and support student efficacy and success.
  • Advising students in any of the seven colleges.
  • Recognize program needs and develop creative and realistic approaches to meet those needs.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to provide quality programming.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a behavioral science, public administration, or a job-related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in a student services program area or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Preference given to applicants with career advising experience in a University setting.

  • High degree of judgment, professional skills, and knowledge related to career planning.
  • Experience in administrative planning and program management.
  • Ability to collaborate with other professionals.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

$66,480 - $94,716 per year.

Schedule

Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.
