Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive career assessments (including professional-level customers and individuals with substantial barriers to employment) to determine occupational interests and aptitude.
- Identifies training and development needs, current vocational skills, employment history, interests, and abilities to assist job seekers in understanding career options based on long-term goals.
- Influences and empowers job seekers and program participants to find employment.
- Recommends workforce programs and services at the local, state, and federal levels that customers are eligible for.
- Conducts intake processes and completes program eligibility for grant-funded programs.
- Guides job seekers through career development and exploration using workforce tools such as aptitude assessments, interviewing techniques, resume writing, and career planning services.
- Provides relevant labor market information, including opportunities, qualifications, and expected pay in various industries, to help customers develop actionable career goals.
- Educates participants on job search skills and industry trends to prepare them for employment.
- Assists job seekers with resume development, mock interviews, and job search strategies.
- Provides information on training opportunities, educational vendors, financial aid, and scholarships.
- Refers participants to training opportunities (occupational skills training, work-based training, apprenticeships) for employability and professional development.
- Prepares and submits Individual Training Account (ITA), work-based training requests, and supportive service requests in a timely manner.
- Evaluates customer needs and provides referrals to internal or external support services to overcome challenges.
- Maintains continuous contact with customers to provide career services, case management, advising, and progress monitoring.
- Develops constructive relationships with internal teams, the public, and external partners.
- Partners with business solutions units to identify employment opportunities for participants.
- Proactively screens and refers participants to job opportunities they qualify for, focusing on training-related development.
- Seeks ways to improve workforce services to meet labor market needs.
- Manages customer information and enters required data into management information systems.
- Ensures case files meet or exceed local, state, and federal quality assurance requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Knowledge of workforce development, economic development, and project management.
- Knowledge of effective conflict resolution practices, case management, and career counseling.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer skills.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse customers and adapt to unique communication styles.
