Responsibilities
- Assist residents with ADL’s, including toileting, bathing, dressing and feeding.
- Ambulate residents and assist with mobility devices, such as canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
- Perform treatments as required, including vital signs, weights, temperatures, skin care, and range of motion exercises.
- Administer medications under the supervision of the Wellness Director.
- Cue and remind residents to take medications.
- Document in and refer to all pertinent records in the system.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans for residents.
- Attend and contribute to care planning meetings as assigned.
- Escort residents to medical appointments as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas.
- Ensure that all necessary supplies for resident care are in stock.
- Report unsanitary conditions, fire or safety hazards, and faulty equipment to appropriate personnel.
- Report any changes in resident’s status to the Wellness Director and/or Clinical Care Coordinator.
- Support the Therapeutic Recreation Department by assisting in daily activities and special events.
- Assist residents to and from recreation programming.
Requirements
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA).
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of, and/or, 1 year of experience working with people with Alzheimer’s Disease and/or related disorders.
- Sensitivity to issues of aging.
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling and work assignments, as well as the ability to work as a team.
