Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

About the role

Responsible for managing the referrals that come for PAR’s services (phone lines, CAM, external entities, and internal referrals). Responsible for screening clients for admission into services, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria for substance abuse and mental health treatment. Duties include conducting initial assessments, reviewing treatment consents, and explaining patient rights and responsibilities. Manages the intake process, including financial reviews and documentation. Using telehealth services for clinical screenings and counseling. Performs various administrative tasks as assigned. Care Coordination for clients to include intake, discharge planning, outreach, and linkages to other services both within and without PAR.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and screenings for substance use disorders and mental health needs
• Review treatment consents and explain patient rights and responsibilities
• Manage the intake process, including financial reviews and documentation
• Use telehealth services for clinical screenings and counseling
• Perform care coordination, including intake, discharge planning, outreach, and linkages to services
• Provide crisis intervention
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the agency's electronic health record (EHR) system
• Adhere to state, federal, and agency regulations regarding client confidentiality and service provision
• Maintain accurate records for auditing and quality assurance purposes
• Tailor placement recommendations to client individual needs and cultural identity
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
• Perform various administrative tasks as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field (preferred)
• Master’s degree in counseling or a directly related field (preferred)
• MCAP, CAP, or CAC certification from the Florida Certification Board (preferred)
• Two years of direct client service experience in mental health or substance use (preferred)
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or obtained within the first six months of employment)
• Valid driver's license
• Must pass a level II background check and drug screen

Skills

• Understanding of substance use, mental health, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care
• Knowledge of accepted levels of treatment, recovery, and relapse prevention
• Ability to identify effects of psychoactive substances on clients and families
• Understanding of co-existing medical and psychological disorders
• Familiarity with community and internal resources
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Ability to use Zoom and Teams virtual platforms
• Highly organized with familiarity in data collection and analysis
• Commitment to workplace dignity and respect
• Ability to work cooperatively and cordially in a team environment
• Ability to accept direction from managers and supervisors collaboratively

• Adherence to company time and attendance standards, with understanding of the needs of a 24-hour residential program if applicable

Physical requirements

• Ability to move about treatment facility, both indoors and outdoors
• Ability to lift and carry 5 to 10 pounds
